Inside the 2025 Acumen America Summit

March 4, 2025

Last week, we hosted the inaugural Acumen America Summit. It marked the first time in the decade since we launched that our community of founders, CEOs, and partners convened together in one place to discuss our shared vision and mission. It felt particularly powerful to have the founders of our 44 portfolio companies together at this time of change and uncertainty in America.

In the 10 years since we launched, the companies in our portfolio have directly impacted the lives of over 6.5 million Americans. What do these companies and the leaders running them have in common? They’re working—city-by-city, state-by-state—to build a better, more just America. They are improving health outcomes, paving pathways out of poverty, and strengthening communities. They are building innovative solutions to America’s biggest problems.

This is what we talked about over three days at our Summit: How do we build an America that works for everyone? How do we tackle these seemingly intractable problems? We know the challenges are daunting. We know the work is mounting. But we also know that through innovation, shared resources, and serving and elevating the voices of our community we can create a more equitable future for all.

Author and scholar Clint Smith set the tone and kicked off the Summit reading from his new book Above Ground.
